No. Lifestyle Doulas focus on the whole-person well-being of mothers before, during, and after pregnancy. The program emphasizes lifestyle factors, risk reduction, maternal recovery, and postpartum support rather than delivery-room birth support.

Postpartum doulas support families after a newborn comes home. Care may include feeding support, newborn care, parent education, emotional support, meal preparation, and light baby-related household tasks.

No. The program is designed for women entering birthwork as well as practicing professionals who want to expand their skills.

The Postpartum + Lifestyle Doula dual training and certification is $599. Payment options are available through the enrollment page.

After completing the dual training and certification requirements, graduates earn the CMD — Certified Maternal Doula — designation.

MILK offers virtual learning and hands-on pathways. The October cohort meets virtually on Sundays. Full dual-certification also requires 40 approved hands-on hours, completed at the retreat, in Houston, or through verified care in your community.

You may complete your supervised maternal and newborn care hours in person at the MILK Institute retreat, arrange them in Houston, or submit documentation from an approved local placement. MILK reviews verified hours before full certification is awarded.

Whole-person care includes nutrition, but it is only one part of the curriculum. Students learn to meet women across cultures and backgrounds while helping clients evaluate their habits and make healthier choices.

The existing MILK policy allows refund requests up to the day training begins. After training starts, the course is non-refundable. Contact MILK directly if an unforeseen circumstance requires you to pause attendance.
